Come and get an insight into the Hornbæk of the visual arts during the lecture 'Kunstnerkolonien i Hornbæk'. We delve into some of the greatest artists who have visited and depicted Hornbæk since the mid-1800s.

Today, most people know about the Skagen Painters - but before the artists really went to Skagen, they settled in Hornbæk and created Denmark's first artist colony in the 1870s.
It was artists such as p.s. Krøyer, Holger Drachmann, Viggo Johansen and Carl Locher. Many more followed. In Hornbæk, the artists were fascinated by the beach, the plantation, Kullen's mountains on the horizon and the local fishing population.

Along the way, we will see paintings, drawings and graphics from this period, but will also look at works from the Danish Golden Age by, among others, PC Skovgaard and J.Th. Lundbye, who found the most idyllic motifs on the north coast around Hornbæk.

The lecture will be given by Cand.Mag. in art history Ida Lehrmann Madsen. Ida has, among other things, published the book 'Kunstnerkolonien i Hornbæk' in collaboration with the Hornbækegnen Historical Society.

There will be a short break during the lecture, where it will be possible to buy coffee and tea in the bar.
