Sort Sol, Vidåslusen & local delicacies

14:30 21:00

08SEP - 15SEP - 22SEP - 29SEP - 06OCT - 13OCT - 20OCT - 27OCT

Every spring and autumn, when the sun sets over the vast wetlands in and around the Southwest Denmark National Park Wadden Sea, a whole 1.5 million migrating starlings gather together in an apparently spontaneous wave-like dance. As the birds flock together in the air, they form cloud-like shapes so dark and dense that they have earned their own local description: Black Sun.

We have created the most wonderful package for you who will visit our area in spring and autumn.
We start by meeting at Slusevej 10, where Sønderjysk bread tart will be served with coffee and tea. Then a nature guide will take you around here at the Vidå sluice and tell you about the sluice’s function, the UNESCO World Heritage Wadden Sea, the Tønder marsh, the birdlife, National Park Wadden Sea, and the culture in this area.
When the time approaches to see the starlings 'dance' before they go to roost, you will all be given a delicious soup based on the season’s local vegetables, which you should enjoy while watching the beautiful Black Sun dance in the sky.
The nature guide will narrate the whole way from start to finish.

Remember plenty of warm clothes, possibly some blankets.

This event costs 595 DKK and half price for children under 13 years old. We keep to small groups so the experience becomes more intense and there is room for all the questions that may arise during this lovely afternoon and evening.

There will be a coffee table with cake from 2:30 PM, so you just show up and get it served at the bar.
