Signe Svendsen visits Slusen Højer
17:00 22:00
Signe Svendsen Solo visits Slusen Højer on November 21st – and we can hardly wait!
With critical acclaim behind her and her special ability to captivate the audience with presence and surprising stories, Signe Svendsen is going on a very special solo tour in 2026. Audiences across the country can look forward to a beautiful mix of beloved songs from her back catalog and brand new material from the upcoming album ‘Alt Det Vi Gør For Ikke At Dø’ (All That We Do To Not Die), which will be released in January 2026.
“Going completely alone on stage is in many ways the purest concert format. It’s a kind of contract with the audience that allows for vulnerability and immediacy – no two evenings are the same, and it is very much something we create together, the audience and I. I really love it and look forward to seeing what the new songs can do in this format.”
The new songs have sprung from an existential thought about what it is that keeps us alive as human beings. Our relationships, worries, and efforts in an unsettled world are given a poetic and intimate language in Signe’s songs, which capture the straightforward and the incomprehensible with a noticeable ease.
Signe Svendsen’s concerts connect the intimate with the grand in songs about destinies, love, doubt – all that we share and have in common. The audience can look forward to sitting right at the edge of their seats for heart-wrenching and laughter-inducing stories in encounters with songs about love, doubt, and fate.
As you know, Slusen is a small and intimate venue with only a few dining seats, so you get as close to the stage as almost possible.

Fish Flounder and flatfish like in the old days
09:30 11:30
This will be a day where you fish together with the tide here at the Wadden Sea, as worms need to be dug up before the water rises, put on the line, and when the tide comes in, the flounders come too. Just like in the old days, and completely natural, as it only requires a hook, stick, thread, and a net, along with the ancient technique behind it, which Steffen and his son will show you this day.
We start by digging up lugworms 50 to 100 meters out in the tidal flats at low tide. Then we go up to the beach, prepare our fishing rods, and enjoy a drink or our snack, using an old method called "pøttern" in German.
After that, we thread the lugworms onto a line and tie it all together, and then you fish with it. The flounders bite onto the line, and then you lift the fish up in a net. An old method used in the past.
When the tide comes in, we go further out and fish for flatfish while moving in with the water.
There is an opportunity to learn how to prepare and cook the fish after the fishing trip together with Steffen. 'The gastronomic fishing trip like in the very old days' DKK 495
The trip requires a fishing license, which we can assist with if you do not have one.
Remember to dress according to the weather and the sea.

Every spring and autumn, when the sun sets over the vast wetlands in and around the Southwest Denmark National Park Wadden Sea, a whole 1.5 million migrating starlings gather together in an apparently spontaneous wave-like dance. As the birds flock together in the air, they form cloud-like shapes so dark and dense that they have earned their own local description: Black Sun.
We have created the most wonderful package for you who will visit our area in spring and autumn.
We start by meeting at Slusevej 10, where Sønderjysk bread tart will be served with coffee and tea. Then a nature guide will take you around here at the Vidå sluice and tell you about the sluice’s function, the UNESCO World Heritage Wadden Sea, the Tønder marsh, the birdlife, National Park Wadden Sea, and the culture in this area.
When the time approaches to see the starlings 'dance' before they go to roost, you will all be given a delicious soup based on the season’s local vegetables, which you should enjoy while watching the beautiful Black Sun dance in the sky.
The nature guide will narrate the whole way from start to finish.
Remember plenty of warm clothes, possibly some blankets.
This event costs 595 DKK and half price for children under 13 years old. We keep to small groups so the experience becomes more intense and there is room for all the questions that may arise during this lovely afternoon and evening.
There will be a coffee table with cake from 2:30 PM, so you just show up and get it served at the bar.
